Who is Eligible

For the exercise of the profession of Food Scientist and/or Food Technologist in the Republic of Cyprus, a registration is required by the Registration Council of Food Scientists, Food Technologists and Dietitians, which operates under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and the provision of a Certificate of Registration.


Every person has the right to register with the Board of Registration of Food Scientists, Food Technologists and Dietitians, provided that he/she satisfies the Board of Registration of Food Scientists, Food Technologists and Dietitians and meets the following criteria:
is a citizen of the Republic, or of any other EU State member, or at the time of his/her application is the spouse of a citizen of the Republic and has a habitual residence in the Republic

has completed the 21st year of his age

has not been sentenced to imprisonment for an offense of a dishonorable nature or involving moral indecency, which in the opinion of the Council renders it unfit to be entered in the Register

holds a university degree or diploma or other equivalent qualification in the field of food scientist or food technologist of any country, as determined by the Council in a notification published in the Official Gazette of the Republic as a recognized qualification for the purposes of Food Science and Biology Registration. is a professional member of the United States Institute of Food Technology or a licentiate or associate member or fellow member of the British Institute of Food Science and Technology or another similar and recognized institute.
